For my government placement, I am working with MPP Deepak Anand of Mississauga—Malton. MPP Anand is the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Labour, Training, and Skills Development. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and the Standing Committee on Government Agencies.
Mississauga—Malton is one of the most diverse communities in the province, with over 120,000 residents, a majority of whom are visible minorities and/or were born outside of Canada. MPP Anand is deeply passionate about youth employment, food insecurity, and bridging the gap between the people and their elected officials.
In this office, I have been able to conduct research, write speeches, questions, and statements, and create social media graphics and videos. Additionally, I have been able to help community members and local organizations keep up to date on funding announcements that impact their lives and work. I have greatly enjoyed helping with the youth employment strategy and building connections between the government, non-profit organizations, and youth.
MPP Anand’s deep connection to his riding is inspiring and it has been a pleasure working with him and his team for the past few months. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to MPP Anand, Anushka Tiwari, Jinkle Mehta, and Nabiha Paracha for creating an incredible learning environment.
