Last month, we were fortunate to meet with Malika Dhanani, Executive Director of the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance, and Michelle Wodchis-Johnson, the Vice President of External Affairs at Western University Students Council and President of the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance.

The Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) represents the interests of approximately 160,000 professional and undergraduate, full-time and part-time university students at nine student associations across Ontario, including Queen’s University Student Government, Brock University Students’ Union, Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association, McMaster Students Union, Trent Durham Student Association, Laurentian University Students’ General Association, Wilfred Laurier University Students’ Union, and Ontario Tech Student Union. OUSA is run by a Steering Committee made up of elected student representatives from each of these member associations.

During our hour with Malika and Michelle, we learned about OUSA’s goals as a non-partisan coalition of student associations from across Ontario, and how all member associations come together under OUSA to protect the interests of Ontario’s undergraduate students by providing research and ideas to governments on how to improve the affordability, accessibility, accountability and quality of post-secondary education in the province.

Thank you to Malika, Michelle, and everyone at OUSA for your continued support of OLIP!
