The Churchill Society for the Advancement of Parliamentary Democracy is a non-profit, charitable organization that honours the life of Sir Winston Churchill by facilitating education, discussion and debate about Canada’s parliamentary democracy. The society was formed in 1982 and invites members from all walks of life to join its group and enjoy important discussions about our government and the health of parliamentary democracy.
We enjoyed two separate meetings with distinguished members of the Churchill Society board of directors. These meetings doubled as both a history lesson and a discussion of parliamentary democracy, its importance, as well as how it can be promoted and invigorated for generations to come.
We were also lucky enough to attend the Churchill Society’s annual dinner. One of the premier events in the city, the annual dinner allowed us to rub elbows with some notable and impressive attendees, as well as hear a speech from the guest of honour and award recipient, the Hon. Irwin Cotler.
The Churchill Society for the Advancement of Parliamentary Democracy is a long time partner of OLIP and we were grateful to be given the chance to continue this tradition. We extend our sincere thanks for their support and best of luck for future.
P.S. please enjoy this photo of the interns at the Churchill Society dinner.
