The OLIP interns were very grateful to be visited by Brett Broadway, Chief Operating Officer of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO). The IBAO has been a longstanding supporter of OLIP, and we are grateful for their ongoing support. During our visit, we were excited to learn about the work of IBAO, representing insurance brokers across the province. While we were all familiar with insurance companies, it was interesting to learn about the difference between local insurance brokers, and the larger companies that we are familiar with.
The interns enjoyed learning about several of the prominent policy issues facing the insurance industry, including the dramatic rise in auto thefts across the province, and the high insurance premiums impacting customers across the GTA. It was good to hear that insurance brokers and their industry association are advocating and taking steps to lower premiums, and are working to support the government in their efforts to stop car thefts.
The interns thoroughly enjoyed meeting with Brett and were pleased to learn more about the work of the IBAO. We continue to be so grateful for the ongoing support of the IBAO as a Purple Trillium partner.
