The OLIP Interns had the pleasure of meeting with Sydney Oakes, a former OLIP Intern and Principal of Provoke Public Relations. Provoke PR provides personalized government relations, strategic communications and advocacy strategies. Ms. Oakes leads the firm with her Co-Principal, Sabrina Grover. With their combined experience working in and around government, Provoke PR has been providing its clients with creative advocacy strategies.
In our meeting, we learned about Ms. Oakes career journey from working at Queen’s Park as an OLIP Intern, to entering the world of government relations and consultancy. Ms. Oakes worked as the Director of Policy and Provincial Affairs for the Chiefs of Ontario, then as Senior Consultant for MNP, and now as the Principal of her own PR firm, Provoke.
We loved hearing about Ms. Oakes’ lively OLIP adventures and the lessons she has learned along her career path since. As we are nearing the end of our own OLIP journey, we value these perspectives and carry them with us as we begin our careers.
