The interns were deeply appreciative of the opportunity to meet with our Partner, the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council (CNIC), and discuss the development and implementation of Ontario-produced isotopes across the country.
For over fifty years, Canada has been a world leader in the realm of radiopharmaceuticals. Our conversation with CNIC allowed us to trace the organization’s foundation in 2018, as well as explore its mandate to further Canada’s system of medical isotope production. Namely, we focused on CNIC’s objective of building bridges between various supply chain stakeholders and connecting Canadian businesses across international isotope sectors.
The discussion was informed by the many insights of the council’s team, including the Executive Director and Vice President of Government Relations, Melody Greaves; Manager of Public Affairs and Communications, Evan Cameron; Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Amanda Tieber; and Research Associate, Marwa Naime.
We sincerely appreciated having representatives from the diverse areas of CNIC’s team, so as to gain a holistic understanding of the organization’s different operations, objectives, and methodologies. Collectively, our speakers explored a range of subjects, including supply chain management, domestic nuclear processing, isotope application in medical fields, and more.
Altogether, the interns are very grateful for having had the opportunity to learn about this critical, advancing technology and its application across the country. With Melody and Evan being previous OLIP interns, we also appreciated the chance to discuss their amazing work post-OLIP! Thank you to the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council for continuing to support OLIP, as well as our gracious hosts for taking the time to meet with us and share their perspectives and analysis!
