The interns were honoured to spend an afternoon at the Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario (AMAPCEO)’s downtown Toronto office, where we were warmly received by President David Bulmer, Vice-President Cynthia Watt, Strategic Advisor Grant Burns, and District Director Jennifer Harewood. Over a delicious lunch, we had the chance to learn about their respective careers with the Ontario Public Service and dive into meaningful conversations about their work with the union.
AMAPCEO has been championing Ontario’s professional public service employees since 1992 and now represents over 17,000 members across the province. The organization is committed to advancing fair workplaces and representing its diverse membership — which spans policy experts, analysts, educators, and more — while remaining non-partisan.
During our visit, we had insightful conversations about the structure of the organization and the Annual Delegates’ Conference, which consists of 15 members, including: the Board of Directors, elected District Delegates, and any elected Bargaining Unit Delegates. Upon understanding the internal mechanisms of AMAPCEO, we also discussed the Constitution and By-laws that contribute to the association’s system of governance.
Altogether, we want to thank David, Cynthia, Grant, and Jennifer for taking the time to meet with us and share their insights about AMAPCEO and the Ontario Public Service, at large. We sincerely appreciate AMAPCEO's continued support of OLIP, and their valued partnership with the programme.
