The Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) Inc. is a voluntary trade organization representing life insurance and health insurance providers in Canada – as a longtime supporter of the OLIP program! CLHIA has both a regulatory function within the Life and Health Insurance industry and provides a government relations role for its members. Â
The OLIP interns were thrilled to meet with Sarah Hobbs, Beth Elder, and Stephanie Wong. Sarah is the Vice-President of Policy, Stephanie is the Senior Manager of Policy, and Beth is the Director of Policy and Federal Regulatory Affairs. Beth is also a previous OLIP intern from the 2012-2013 cohort and was excited to be able to catch up with the cohort and learn about our placements. Our meeting covered a wide variety of topics, including virtual health care, interprovincial trade barriers, labour mobility, as well as how the CLHIA’s work has been impacted by policy developments related to dental care. It was fascinating to hear what the CLHIA is keeping their eyes on from a government relations and policy perspective. Â
Thank you to the CLHIA team for the wonderful meeting! We are also deeply appreciative of the support that the entire CLHIA team gives to OLIP through their partnership.Â
