In March, we traded in our typical business-formal attire for steel toed boots, jeans, and hard hats to tour Bruce Power’s site in Tiverton, Ontario! Established in 2001, Bruce Power is Canada's only private sector nuclear generator. Bruce Power provides nuclear power to 1/3 three homes, hospitals, schools and businesses in Ontario and medical isotopes across the globe to keep medical equipment sterilized and assist in fighting disease.
Our site tour built on the conversations we had in January with Clint Thomas (Director of Government and Stakeholder Relations) and Patrick Dalzell, CFA (Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Market Development). We had the privilege of touring the Bruce B Nuclear Generating Station and had an immersive experience into the coordinated protocols required to generate safe, sustainable nuclear energy.

We particularly enjoyed learning about Bruce Power's leadership in producing Medical Isotopes. For example, medical-grade cobalt-60 is produced by Bruce Power to be used in radiation therapy in the treatment of complex cancers and conditions. It was also fascinating to learn about Bruce Power's innovative Isotope Production System (IPS), which is expanding commercial production of lutetium-177 for medical use.
We can’t thank Bruce Power enough for their continued support of OLIP interns’ learning as a Purple Trillium Partner 💜.
