The OLIP interns are so appreciative to the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO) for partnering with the programme and for taking the time to meet with us in November.
It was so informative to learn about the specific concerns and needs felt by the Franco-Ontarian education system, building on our knowledge of the many sectoral challenges faced by teachers in Ontario. It is important to understand and recognize the distinct challenges of Franco-Ontarian teachers and school boards, and the impact of those challenges on students. The meeting illuminated specific issues, from the shortage of francophone teachers to the difficuly retaining students in the French system because of the limited variety of courses. We heard some proposed solutions from the AEGO that we hope can make a positive impact.
