We had the pleasure of meeting with Ryan Clarke, the founder of Advocacy Solutions, which is now part of CRG-EVERSANA Canada Inc. Founded in 2003, Advocacy Solutions trains individuals to become effective advocates and provides resources to amplify advocacy and engagement efforts.
With nearly 20 years of experience in the field, Mr. Clarke gave us a glimpse into the world of advocacy. He shared that good advocacy is a process that takes time, consistency, and a willingness to remain dedicated to a cause. As interns just starting our careers, we were fascinated by Mr. Clarke’s wealth of advice for us. In particular, Mr. Clarke emphasized that developing strong, long-term relationships with others is key to making a difference and creating change in our communities.
Mr. Clarke also provided great insight into his experiences working as a non-partisan actor in a highly political field. He explained that being non-partisan in our actions will help bring more value to the work we do as OLIP interns.
Finally, Mr. Clarke highlighted that the essence of good advocacy is storytelling, emphasizing that the most effective advocates are those who use their own personal stories and the stories they represent to advocate for change. As we move forward with our OLIP experience, we will remember Mr. Clarke’s advice to become effective storytellers and advocates in the future.
Thank you, Mr. Clarke, for all your support to OLIP over the years and for taking the time to share your insights with us!
