Yuliya Khraplyva

Yuliya Khraplyva Yuliya Khraplyva was born and grew up in Ukraine, arriving in Canada in 2003. She earned a BA (Hon.) from York University, majoring in Law and Society with a minor in Psychology. By pursuing a wide variety of courses such as Legal History, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Popular Trials, she is amazed to see how much she learned about politics indirectly. More importantly, she did not simply learn facts, but was taught to analyze them critically and hopes to continue to be doing so while working with OLIP. As a recent immigrant to Canada, Yuliya has developed passion for Comparative Politics. Obsessed with the political happenings in both Canada and Ukraine she got accustomed to analyzing events from different angles. As a student eager to get a feel of the real world, Yuliya was keeping herself busy during her summer time by volunteering in law firms focused primarily on immigration and refugee issues. In her last year of studies, she enjoyed volunteering as an academic peer advisor and helping fellow students. She gave up a potential career of a Ballroom dancer before university but compensated her passion for dance by joining a competitive York University dance team. As a true new Canadian, Yuliya has been persistent to master French language through both university courses and immersion in Quebec. She is looking forward to OLIP and is interested in seeing how it will influence her intention to pursue the study of law following the programme.
