Maegan Baird

Maegan Baird

Maegan Baird is a fluently bilingual French Canadian hailing from Welland, Ontario. Since the age of twelve, Maegan can remember being extremely interested in both law and politics, which led her to pursue a BA (Hon.) in political science at McMaster University. Some of her research interests included immigration and settlement, international and domestic policy development and community advancement. During those years she volunteered with various organizations including an after-school tutoring program and a community legal clinic. She also spent much of her time creating and coordinating a locally based initiative to address and research issues of poverty in Hamilton, participating in conferences and organizations to this end. She has since completed her MA in international relations and public policy with a focus on policy administration, implementation and development. In addition to school and volunteering, Maegan enjoys reading Canadian literature, hiking and watching the Food Network in an attempt to learn some new and exciting recipes! She is extremely excited and honored to be part of the 2009-2010 Legislature Internship Programme and to learn more actively about the legislative process in Ontario.
