The Interns
Beesan Sarrouh grew up in Ottawa, and is very excited to be a part of the OLIP team this year. Beesan earned a Bachelor of Humanities and Political Science at Carleton University, and an MA in Political Science at the University of Alberta, with a concentration in Comparative Politics in Developed Countries. Beesan’s academic interests pertain to Canadian and British politics and public policy. Her graduate research focused on immigration, multicultural and social policies, and how these policies have impacted Canadian and British immigrants as well as ethnic and religious minorities. Beesan has presented her research at conferences held at the University of Toronto and Oxford University, England. Her work experiences include completing a research and writing placement in the Program Development department at Covenant House Headquarters in New York City, an organization that helps homeless youth in North and Central America. Beesan hopes to find work in the government or the NGO sector or may return to academia upon the completion of OLIP. In her spare time, Beesan enjoys travelling, watching live music, swimming and hiking and practising her Arabic.
