Aviva Levy

Aviva Levy graduated from McGill University in 2009 with a B.A. in Canadian Studies and Sociology. Fascinated by government since the womb, Aviva has pursued her political passions for a number of years. A native of midtown Toronto, Aviva grew up in a politically charged household and was exposed to speeches by several politicians before she was even old enough to vote. Aviva was a founding member of the Political Issues Club at McGill, and also studied abroad at the University of Haifa in Israel during her third year of university. She has worked for both the Ontario Ministries of Government Services and Transportation in the summers of 2007 and 2009 respectively. Additionally, Aviva worked for Elections Ontario in the last provincial election and has been an active member of the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee since 2006.

Aviva aims to pursue a master’s degree in public policy and aspires to one day work in the upper echelons of the Ontario Public Service, but has yet to decide for which ministry. A lifelong political junkie, Aviva enjoys discussing current events with individuals from all political backgrounds and reading her morning dose of the Globe and Mail. Aviva has a hidden passion for residential real estate; in her spare time, she just can’t get enough of home improvement and design shows, and adores perusing MLS to check out the latest listings.

More about Aviva

If you could be on any reality TV show, which would it be? Without a doubt The Amazing Race. I thrive in competitive atmospheres and am quite the traveling enthusiast

Favourite season Summer. As patriotic as I am, I absolutely despise winter.

Favourite book Zoya’s Story. It’s an incredibly compelling non-fiction story about a woman in Afghanistan who has dedicated her life to helping other Afghan women through an amazing organization called RAWA, the Revolutionary Association of the Women in Afghanistan.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? Tahiti! It’s been my dream destination for a long, long time. Tropic weather with French speakers…what more could a proud Canuck ask for?

If you could speak any language fluently, what would it be? Yiddish, even though it’s unfortunately a dying language. I would change that if only I could speak it!

Little known fact about you I have read every book about women in Afghanistan, and am on my way to completing my list of books about women in both Saudi Arabia and Iran as well. Yes, I am obsessed.

I always wanted to… Be in shape, but I hate working out!

Favourite ingredients on pizza Green olives, mushrooms, and green peppers.

Favourite quote “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
